What to Expect at Your First CrossFit Class
A warm welcome awaits!
Thinking about trying CrossFit but not sure what to expect? Worried it’s a bunch of wild fitness freaks throwing barbells around with high risk of injury? Think again! At Loud City Fitness here in Edmond, we know walking into your first class can feel intimidating. The good news? You don’t have to be “in shape” to start — you just have to start. Here’s exactly what your first class will look like so you can walk in with confidence.
Just walk in the door
It’s literally the hardest part. But, when you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a coach and introduced to a few members. You’ll be put at ease right away.
We keep our classes small so you’ll never get lost in the crowd.
Expect high-fives, smiles, and a community that’s excited you’re here. We love new members!
the warm up: Prime your engine
Every class begins with a coach-led warm-up to get you moving and loosened up.
This isn’t about being fast — it’s about preparing your body for safe, effective movement.
You’ll be led through light cardio (think rowing or biking), dynamic stretches, and mobility work.
The Workout of the Day
This is the fun part! Each class has a workout designed to challenge your strength and cardio fitness.
Workouts are scalable — meaning the same workout can be adjusted for a seasoned athlete or a total beginner. Expect all ages and abilities in all classes.
Example: Instead of pull-ups, you might do ring rows. Instead of a heavy barbell, you might use dumbbells. Our coaches will be right there with you, ensuring you get a great workout that keeps you challenged and safe.
STRENGTH & SKILL WORK
Your coach will walk you through the day’s main movement (like squats, deadlifts, or presses).
We focus on proper form first — safety is our number one priority, followed by progress.
Beginners often use lighter weights or bodyweight versions until they feel confident. This is totally normal; your coach will be alongside to ensure you’re moving well.
Cool Down & Community
Classes finish with a cool-down and a group effort to get our space cleaned up.
Most importantly — you’ll leave feeling accomplished, sweaty, and supported.
Many of our members stick around afterward to chat, get to know each other, or plan their next class. We love to hang out!
